Just a bit over a month after his club option was triggered for the 2025 season, it appears Malik Owolabi-Belewu is on the move to English 4th tier side Chesterfield FC.

James Sharman of 'Footy Prime The Podcast' reports that the 22-year-old defender will be sold for $200k, with Forge retaining a sell-on clause in case 'The Spireites' sell Malik in the future.

Owolabi-Belewu, 22, joined Forge ahead of the 2022 season, making 72 appearances over three seasons and winning three trophies.

He ranked 6th in tackles won during the 2024 Canadian Premier League season.

Malik would become the Hammers' 5th all-time sale, previously transferring Tristan Borges, David Monsalve, Manjrekar James, and Kwasi Poku, who holds the record for the highest outbound transfer fee in Canadian Premier League history (around $750k CAD).

Just under a week ago, Vancouver FC sold 16-year-old midfielder Grady McDonnell to Club Brugge in a deal valued at €350k including add-ons, with the Eagles also retaining a sell-on clause.
