The Vancouver Whitecaps have enjoyed a strong season—fighting for first in MLS, reaching the Concacaf Champions Cup final, and chasing a fourth straight Voyageurs Cup.

Thanks to their league form, they could clinch a playoff spot this weekend if results go their way.

The simplest path is to avoid defeat at home against Philadelphia on Saturday. A win or a draw will be enough for the ’Caps.

If they lose to the Union, who currently top the Supporters’ Shield standings, they would still qualify with just one of the following results:

• San Jose Earthquakes lose or draw vs. LAFC

• Real Salt Lake lose or draw vs. Sporting Kansas City

• Colorado Rapids lose vs. Houston Dynamo

A favourable outcome would make Vancouver the fourth team to clinch a playoff berth this season, joining Philadelphia, San Diego, and Minnesota.
