Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 confirmed: Matchups, dates, details & more

With the Vancouver Whitecaps securing a 3-2 aggregate victory over Deportivo Saprissa in the preliminary round of the Concacaf Champions Cup on Thursday, the full slate of Round of 16 matchups is now set.

The eight home-and-away series, featuring the eleven Round One winners, the three regional cup champions—Columbus Crew (USA), LD Alajuelense (CRC), and Cavalier FC (JAM)—as well as the MLS champions, LA Galaxy (USA), and Liga MX champions, Club América (MEX), are set to take place during the first two weeks of March.

The matchups for the Round of 16 and each club's path to the Final were determined at the official draw, and will be as follows: 

R16 Matchup 1: Columbus Crew (USA) vs Los Angeles FC (USA)
R16 Matchup 2: Cavalier FC (JAM) vs Inter Miami FC (USA) 
R16 Matchup 3: CF Monterrey (MEX) vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CAN)
R16 Matchup 4: LD Alajuelense (CRC) vs Pumas UNAM (MEX) 
R16 Matchup 5: Club America (MEX) vs CD Guadalajara (MEX) 
R16 Matchup 6: Cruz Azul (MEX) vs Seattle Sounders FC (USA) 
R16 Matchup 7: Tigres UANL (MEX) vs FC Cincinnati (USA) 
R16 Matchup 8: LA Galaxy (USA) vs CS Herediano (CRC)

After the home-and-away series, the aggregate score winner in each matchup (eight clubs in total) will advance to the Quarterfinals, set for early April, followed by the Semifinals in late April and early May, with the Final scheduled for Sunday, June 1.

For the Round of 16, the five pre-seeded clubs and the three highest-ranked Round One winners will host the second-leg matches. From the Quarterfinals onward, the highest-ranked club (based on the competition's cumulative table) in each pairing will host the second leg. Likewise, the highest-ranked finalist will host the single-leg Final on June 1, 2025.

What's next for Vancouver?

The Whitecaps have a packed schedule this March, starting with their Major League Soccer home opener against LA Galaxy on Sunday, March 2.

Three days later, they take on Monterrey in the first leg of the Champions Cup round of 16, before returning to league action another three days later to host Canadian rivals CF Montréal.

On March 12, they travel to Mexico for leg 2.
