Hello Vancouver! We are back with another edition of Vancouver Weekly, as this week is filled with Vancouver soccer.

As a lot of Vancouver soccer fans are probably upset about Les Rouges and their exit, a couple of Vancouver sides were in action during the week, so let's check on the four sides.

This is Vancouver Weekly!

Vancouver Whitecaps

It's finally gameweek for the Vancouver Whitecaps after an entire month!

During the World Cup, Andrés Cubas and Paraguay fell short to France in a tight 1-0 physical game. The Whitecaps midfielder was the best outfielder for the Albirroja, as he made eleven defensive contributions, seven tackles, five recoveries, three interceptions, and created a chance. He even got into an argument with French superstar Kylian Mbappé, which caught some headlines.

Meanwhile, the World Cup journey continues for Sebastian Berhalter and the United States, as they defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina by a 2-0 scoreline. Berhalter played three minutes, winning his only duel of the game. The United States will face Belgium tonight in Seattle, as the USMNT will controversially have striker Folarin Balogun available after the White House intervened with FIFA to wipe Balogun's suspension from his red card in the previous game. If the United States win, this would mean Berhalter will not be able to return to the club until Friday at the very least.

The Whitecaps have announced another departure, as defender Sebastian Schonlau and the club mutually agreed to terminate the German's contract, and he has promptly joined German second division side Holstein Kiel.

The Whitecaps return to action this week, as they face off in the Canadian Championship quarter-finals against Cavalry FC. The first leg will happen on Wednesday at Swangard Stadium, with kickoff set for 7:30 pm PT, while the second leg at ATCO Field will commence next week on Monday, as kickoff is set for 6:30 pm PT / 7:30 pm MT.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2

No action on Rich Fagan's side over the past week, as they were given a bye.

They are back in action tomorrow against Ventura County FC at Swangard Stadium, as kickoff is set for 6:00 pm PT.

On Saturday, they will hit the road to Herriman, Utah, to take on Real Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium, with kickoff set for 2:30 pm PT / 3:30 pm MT.

Vancouver FC

The climb continues for the Eagles!

In the first of two games from the past week, they took a 2-0 first-half lead in Hamilton against Forge FC on Canada Day following goals from Terran Campbell and Theirno Bah. The second half was a mess for the Eagles, as goals from Daniel Krutzen, Tristan Borges, and Antoine Batisse flipped the script, and Forge took a 3-2 comeback win.

It was the exact opposite on Saturday, as they took on Inter Toronto at Willoughby Stadium. They had another dynamic first half, but this time, they put the game away after a first-minute strike from Nicolás Mezquida. Burundi international Mohamed Amissi netted a first-half hat trick to make it 4-0 for Vancouver FC after the first 45 minutes. They didn't break in the second half and secured a huge win to put them a point away from the fourth and final playoff spot with a game in hand.

The focus shifts to the Canadian Championship, as a huge test awaits against CF Montréal. The first leg is at home on Wednesday, with kickoff set for 7:00 pm PT. The second leg is on Sunday at Stade Saputo, with kickoff set for 4:30 pm PT / 7:30 pm ET.

Vancouver Rise

It's another terrible loss at the Stade Boréale for Anja Heiner-Møller.

Powered by a hat trick from Evelyn Badu, the Montréal Roses dismantled the Vancouver Rise by a 5-1 scoreline, with Jessica De Filippo grabbing the lone goal.

The injury list continues to grow for the Rise, as after Jessika Cowart was confirmed to have a lengthy stint on the sidelines due to a broken collarbone, Jessica De Filippo was withdrawn due to injury in the 61st minute.

Currently, Ariel Young, Audrey François, Shannon Woeller, Quinn, Morgan McAslan, and Nikki Stanton are on the unavailable list for the Rise, as Cowart and likely De Filippo will be added to that list.

A bright spot was the return of right-back Jaylyn Wright, who got her first minutes since the second of May, when she came off injured against the Roses in Laval.

The Rise will take on the only side they have yet to face in 2026, as they travel to McMahon Stadium on Saturday, where they will face a Calgary Wild side that is yet to win in 2026. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm PT / 5:00 pm MT.

That's it for Vancouver Weekly, as all four pro sides will be in action this week, which looks to be very packed with action across the board.

Thank you for reading Vancouver Weekly, and we will see you next week, Vancouverites!
