Cavalry took all three points in their first-ever visit to FC Supra, edging a tightly contested match in Laval.
For two sides meeting for the first time, the match had all the intensity of a budding rivalry. Tobias Warschewski was the difference, converting an 88th-minute penalty to win all three points.
Cavalry controlled the opening 15 minutes with patient possession, setting the tempo early, but Supra grew into the match and held a slight edge in possession before halftime. Clear chances were scarce, with the two sides combining for just 0.13 expected goals in the first half.
The visitors were dealt a blow in the 39th minute when Harry Paton was forced off through injury, replaced by Niko Myroniuk.
Supra manager Nicholas Razzaghi made a wave of second-half changes, introducing Omar El Kalkouli, Alexandre Marcoux, Bakary Kabore, and David Choinière. Cavalry responded by introducing Caniggia Elva and Owen Antoniuk, the latter earning extended minutes after progressing through the club’s development pathway.
The decisive moment came after Goteh Ntignee was brought down in the box, prompting Tommy Wheldon Jr. to request an FVS review. The penalty was awarded, and Warschewski calmly slotted past Joakim Mili to give Cavalry the lead.

Drama continued deep into stoppage time. Supra were initially awarded a penalty after Myroniuk appeared to have fouled Omar Elkalkouli, but Tommy Wheeldon Jr.’s second successful FVS review overturned the decision, denying the hosts a late chance to equalize.
Supra kept pushing, with Sean Rea forcing a save from Nathan Ingham, but could not find a breakthrough. Frustrations boiled over late, as Alessandro Biello was shown a red card in the 14th minute of added time, capping off a physical outing that saw Supra collect six yellow cards as well.
It's another narrow defeat for the expansion side, who have shown plenty of promise through four matches. With a balanced goal difference and two wins to their name, both losses have come by 1-0 scorelines in matches where they had strong spells of control.
Attention now turns to the Canadian Championship. Supra will make their tournament debut against Woodbridge Strikers SC of the Ontario Premier League on Friday, May 8th (7:00 pm ET / 4:00 pm PT), while Cavalry travel to face Pacific on Saturday, May 9th (5:00 pm MT / 4:00 pm PT), with a quarterfinal clash against the Vancouver Whitecaps awaiting the winner.
