The inaugural Women's Canadian Championship heads west for the only time in 2026 as Calgary Wild FC host Ligue1 Québec side CS Mont-Royal Outremont in the second of four quarter-final matchups.

How Wild FC enter the match

The first edition of a national women's domestic cup provides the hosts with an opportunity to make up for their struggles in league play. After a pre-season full of positives in England, the Albertan side has yet to win a match in the NSL. A 0-2-12 record, along with a league-worst nine goals scored and 39 conceded, leaves the Owls rooted to the bottom of the table, 15 points adrift of the playoff places.

Despite the results, Calgary have shown signs of gradual improvement in recent weeks before suffering a significant setback in the form of a 6-0 home defeat to AFC Toronto. In situations like this, cup competitions can provide a fresh sense of purpose, and with only three wins required to lift the inaugural trophy, the Wild have every reason to embrace the opportunity.

How CSMRO enter the match

CS Mont-Royal Outremont enter the inaugural tournament as the 2025 Ligue1 Québec champions and runners-up at the 2025 Canadian Inter-Provincial Championship. In 2026, the Griffons followed that success with another strong campaign, finishing second in Ligue1 Québec with a 10-2-4 record while leading the league with 35 goals scored and an outstanding +23 goal differential.

Québec clubs have developed a strong reputation in the men's Canadian Championship, with CS Saint-Laurent eliminating professional opposition in both 2024 and 2026. CSMRO will be hoping to continue that tradition in the inaugural women's competition.

Availability

Wild FC were without regulars Talia White, Meggie Dougherty Howard, and Jackie Sawicki in their most recent match, and no update has been provided on their availability for Wednesday night.

There have, however, been encouraging signs from Calgary's recent additions. Hannah Boughton, Taylor Otto, Madison Pogarch, and Frédérique St-Jean have all earned meaningful minutes since joining the club and could once again play important roles in the Wild's bid to advance.
