Forge and Cavalry clash once again as the two clubs sitting atop the CPL table after a quarter of the season renew their rivalry.
A sunny afternoon in Hamilton will see an undefeated Cavalry side attempt to hand the Hammers their first back-to-back CPL defeats since the club's playoff exit in 2025.
The perennial CPL Shield contenders have met 38 times to date, with Forge holding a slight edge with 15 wins to Cavalry’s 12. The clubs have already met once this season in a defensive 0-0 draw in Hamilton last month. Rezart Rama received an early red card in that match, but Forge’s disciplined possession and resilient defending prevented Cavalry from finding a breakthrough.
The Hamiltonians enter the match on the back of their first loss of 2026, a 2-1 defeat to Atlético Ottawa last weekend, while Cavalry arrives riding a four-match winning streak, having conceded just one goal during that stretch.
Nathan Ingham and Dimitry Bertaud have both enjoyed strong starts to the season, with the two goalkeepers combining for nine clean sheets in 14 matches.
Brian Wright leads Forge in scoring in 2026 with four goals across all competitions, while Tobias Warschewski tops the Cavalry charts with five. This fixture presents a significant challenge for both attackers, as another 90-minute defensive battle appears likely.
Forge’s back line, led by Antoine Batisse, Marko Jevremović, and Dan Nimick, has been outstanding to start the season, limiting chances and easing the workload on Bertaud when called upon. At the other end, Daan Klomp, Amer Didić, and Bradley Kamdem-Fewo have been equally reliable defensively and have also contributed in attack whenever opportunities arise.
Despite the strong defensive performances from both sides, availability has been a challenge. Through seven CPL matches, Forge has not had a single player start more than five times, while Cavalry has dealt with injuries across its back line and midfield.
Harry Paton, who will face his brother Ben for the second time in CPL action this weekend, has been working his way back from a lower-body injury suffered earlier this month. At the same time, Bradley Kamdem-Fewo was unavailable for Cavalry last weekend.
